Franco Baresi

Franco Baresi was born in Travagliato, Brescia, Italy on May 8, 1960. As a sweeper or a professional central defender, he played for the A.C. Milan for 20 years. He coached the club for 15 seasons. For his outstanding performances and great achievements on football fields, he was widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of his generation.

There are many accolades, titles and trophies won by him, including Champions League, Serie A title, Supercoppa Italiana title, European Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup. At international level, Franco Baresi won the 1982 FIFA World Cup and the third place in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. In view of extraordinary performances, he was listed into the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team.

Franco Baresi was appointed as the team leader of Italy national football team at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. At that time, he pulled on Italy football shirt and played for the team once again. All achievements and satisfying rankings are corresponding consequences of his constant and arduous efforts.
